Hooverphonic ist eine seit 1995 bestehende belgische Trip-Hop-Band. Am 1. Oktober 2019 wurden sie von der flämischen Rundfunkanstalt VRT als Vertreter Belgiens beim Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam ausgewählt. Über das Lied "The Wrong Place"

The Wrong Place (englisch für Der falsche Ort) ist ein englischsprachiger Popsong, der von Alex Callier und Charlotte Foret geschrieben wurde. Laut Callier handle das Lied von einem One-Night-Stand, welcher schief gelaufen sei. Der Titel sei typisch für Hooverphonic, da er als Soundtrack zu einem nicht-existierenden Film dienen könne. Während des Prozesses des Songschreibens habe man einen Titel von Johnny Cash im Radio gehört und sich zum Ziel gesetzt, eine Zeile mit Bezug auf ihn in das Lied einzubauen. #eurovision #song #contest #2021 #popsong #hooverphonic

Turnusgemäß wäre die wallonische Rundfunkanstalt Radio-télévision belge de la Communauté française (RTBF) für die Auswahl des Interpreten 2021 zuständig. Da der Wettbewerb 2020 aber abgesagt wurde, einigten sich RTBF und VRT darauf, dass VRT auch 2021 die Teilnahme übernimmt. RTBF wird somit erst 2022 wieder für die Teilnahme zuständig sein. Am 20. März 2020 gab VRT bekannt, dass Hooverphonic, die Belgien bereits 2020 vertreten sollten, das Land 2021 beim Song Contest vertreten werden. Ihr Lied wurde erneut intern ausgewählt. #eurovision #song #contest #belgium #2021 #hooverphonic

    Der 65. Eurovision Song Contest soll im Zeitraum vom 18. bis zum 22. Mai 2021 in der Ahoy-Arena in der niederländischen Stadt Rotterdam stattfinden. Nachdem die Niederlande den Eurovision Song Contest 2019 gewinnen konnten und die Veranstaltung 2020 in Rotterdam wegen der COVID-19-Pandemie abgesagt wurde, soll der Eurovision Song Contest im Jahr 2021 nun dort stattfinden.
