Lesley Roy ist eine irische Singer-Songwriterin. Sie hätte ihr Land mit dem Lied Story of My Life beim im März 2020 abgesagten ESC 2020 in Rotterdam vertreten sollen. Sie wird stattdessen mit dem Lied Maps beim ESC 2021 antreten. m Alter von sieben Jahren begann sie, Gitarre zu lernen. Mit 15 Jahren spielte sie ihre ersten Demos ein. Im Jahr 2008 veröffentlichte Roy ihr von Max Martin produziertes Debütalbum Unbeautiful beim Plattenlabel Jive Records. Maps (spanisch für Karten) ist ein Popsong, mit dem die Sängerin Lesley Roy Irland beim ESC 2021 in Rotterdam vertreten wird. Sie schrieb ihn mit Emilie Eriksson, Lukas Hällgren und Philip Strand. Der Titel sei speziell für den Wettbewerb geschrieben worden. Die Sängerin bezeichnet Maps als herzergreifend und erhebend. Der Songtext spricht davon, dass die Sängerin all die Zeit nach den falschen Orten gesucht habe, und es nur einen Weg zurück nach Hause gebe. Vorentscheid

Bis 2015 wurden alle irischen Vertreter in einem Vorentscheid gewählt. Von 1965-1986, mit Ausnahme von 1983 als Irland nicht teilnahm, fand dazu jedes Jahr der National Song Contest statt. Von 1987-2001 diente der Eurosong dazu den irischen Vertreter zu bestimmen. Von 2003-2005 diente die Castingshow You're a Star jeweils dazu den irischen Vertreter zu ermitteln. 2006-2007 wurden die Vertreter intern ausgewählt. Von 2008-2015 fand dann jeweils wieder der Eurosong statt. Seit 2016 wählt die irische Rundfunkanstalt seine Vertreter und deren Lieder intern aus. #eurovision #song #contest #2021

    Der 65. Eurovision Song Contest soll im Zeitraum vom 18. bis zum 22. Mai 2021 in der Ahoy-Arena in der niederländischen Stadt Rotterdam stattfinden. Nachdem die Niederlande den Eurovision Song Contest 2019 gewinnen konnten und die Veranstaltung 2020 in Rotterdam wegen der COVID-19-Pandemie abgesagt wurde, soll der Eurovision Song Contest im Jahr 2021 nun dort stattfinden.
