On February 27, 2020, the BBC announced that the singer James Newman will represent the United Kingdom at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands. His song My Last Breath, which was written by Adam Argyle, Ed Drewett, Iain James and Newman himself, was released on the same day. However, the contest had to be cancelled on March 18, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sein Lied My Last Breath, welches von Adam Argyle, Ed Drewett, Iain James und Newman selbst verfasst wurde, wurde am gleichen Tag veröffentlicht. Der Wettbewerb musste aber am 18. März 2020 aufgrund der COVID-19-Pandemie abgesagt werden. Daraufhin wurde Newman intern für den Eurovision Song Contest 2021 ausgewählt, wo er das Vereinigte Königreich mit dem Lied "Embers" vertreten wird.
