The Roop is a Lithuanian pop-rock band from Vilnius. It consists of singer and keyboardist Vaidotas Valiukevičius, drummer Robertas Baranauskas and guitarist Mantas Banišauskas. They were supposed to represent Lithuania at ESC 2020 in Rotterdam, which had to be cancelled on 03/18/20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, they were able to take first place in the replacement event hosted by the First German Television. The second edition of Pabandom iš naujo! (German: Let's try it again!) took place between 16.01 and 6.02.21 and was the Lithuanian pre-selection for the ESC 2021 in Rotterdam. From 28.10.20 to 14.12.20 entries could be submitted to LRT. Since from 2021 on background vocals played from tape can be used at the ESC, this may now also be used at the Lithuanian preliminary decision. Otherwise, only the general rules for the ESC had to be followed.
